Riječ je o sustavnom i temeljitom pregledu slovenske povijesti modernog i suvremenog doba, od kraja osamnaestog i početka devetnaestog stoljeća, kada se počinje formirati slovenska nacija, preko iskušenja življenja u višenacionalnim monarhijama Habsburgovaca i Karađorđevića te jugoslavenske socijalističke federativne republike, teškoća dvaju svjetskih ratova, suglasja i otpora komunističkom režimu poslijeratne Jugoslavije do ostvarenja nacionalne nezavisnosti i ulaska u NATO i Europsku uniju.
