BB: Josef Djordjevski – Slow Violence, Ecocide, and the Environmental Legacies of Conflict in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, 1991-Present.
The presentation will discuss different methods and concepts related to the militarization, destruction, and transformation of landscapes and environmental infrastructures in the Former Yugoslavia during and after the Wars of Yugoslav Succession. The presentation therefore seeks to demonstrate new ways that environmental considerations can help us better understand the nature-society nexus in the immediate and long-term effects of the wars, and thereby shed new light on their human costs.
