The conference will be held on May 4 and 5 2018 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, within the festival of history \u201cKliofest.\u201d Participants can submit abstracts of their papers by February 16 2018.<\/p>\n

The wide subject of revolution and upheaval will be considered in the conference, in the context of history, cultural theory, humanities and social sciences and political science. Revolutions and upheavals as points of discontinuity within the historical narrative acquire a large cultural significance from ancient to modern times: they are feared, mystified, and their participants in official ideologies often receive the aura of martyrs or egotistical terrorists and criminals. The controversial subject of revolution and upheaval, therefore, deserves more scholarly attention.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Since revolutions and memories of revolutions touch on multiple domains of society, this subject requires a multidisciplinary approach and the conference will therefore be open to those students who regard revolutions and upheavals from the viewpoints of other disciplines within the humanities and social sciences such as sociology, political science, media studies, art history, literary history, cultural anthropology and other related disciplines.<\/p>\n

Participants<\/strong> \u2013 biographies of the participants of revolutions, political parties, revolutionary organizations, the military and the police<\/p>\n

Revolutions and the culture of memory<\/strong> \u2013 memorials, revolution in works of art, testimonies of revolutions, historiography on revolutions and upheavals<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Revolution and culture<\/strong> \u2013 the influence of revolution on everyday life, societies of upheaval, mythologization and imagery of revolutionary and subversive movements, revolution in the media<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thought of revolution<\/strong> \u2013 political ideas, the revolutionary worldview, utopias and dystopias, the intellectual history of revolutionary movements<\/p>\n

The conference will be held on May 4 and 5 2018 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, within the festival of history \u201cKliofest.\u201d Participants can submit abstracts of their papers (400 words maximum, Times New Roman 12) to the e-mail address revolutionhistory596@gmail.com by February 16 2018. The organizational board will choose the papers and in the period of one week will inform the participants on whether their papers were accepted. The official languages of the conference are Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, Macedonian and English.<\/p>\n
