U srijedu, 11. listopada 2017. na Europskom sveu\u010dili\u0161nom institutu (EUI) u Firenci Bernhard Struck predstavit \u0107e rad na pripremi knjige o transnacionalnoj povijesti moderne i suvremene Europe \u010diji je izlazak najavljen za 2019.<\/p>\n

The presentation will be revolving around a co-authored monograph entitled \u201cModern Europe, c. 1760s-2000s. A Transnational History\u201d (with Dr James Koranyi, Durham; publication in 2019, Bloomsbury), that Prof. Struck is currently starting to write during his visit as Braudel Fellow. The book is intended to strike a balance between introductory textbook to, historiographical synthesis of and experimental essay into transnational history. It seeks to address the question of how to write European history at a time of global history.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In this presentation, Prof. Struck will, first, focus on some general elements and questions the book engages with. These include questions of periodisation, as the book is loosely structured around the concept of \u2018regimes of territoriality\u2019 (C. Maier) with three parts ranging from c.1760s-1850s, c. 1860s-1960s, c.1970s-2000s, as well as the logic of case studies and problems of (transnational) agency and structure. Second, based on the chapter he is working on while at the EUI (\u201cEurope in the World, 1760s to 1850s\u201d), Prof. Struck will (tentatively) try to pull together questions of land, territory, taxation, and empire. The latter will seek to address connections between the partitions of Poland-Lithuania and the French overseas empire, c.1760s-1790s.<\/p>\n
