The Leibniz-Zentrum f\u00fcr Zeithistorische Forschung Potsdam \/ Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam (ZZF) is pleased to invite applications for two <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leibniz Summer Fellowships in the field of \u201cGerman and\/or European (including Eastern European) History in the Twentieth Century\u201d. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These two-month fellowships provide international scholars an opportunity to pursue individual research in Germany while participating in the academic life of one of Germany\u2019s major historical research centres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1992, the ZZF is interested in all aspects of contemporary European History and currently comprises five research departments: \u201cCommunism and Society\u201d, \u201cKnowledge, Economy, Politics\u201d, \u201cRegimes of the Social Sphere\u201d, \u201cContemporary History in the Age of Media and Information\u201d and \u201cGlobalizations in a Divided World\u201d. The ZZF library holds approximately 100,000 items and subscribes to more than 100 periodicals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We welcome applicants with an outstanding academic record and post-doctoral standing; it is a requirement that applicants hold a doctoral degree at the time of application. Furthermore, these fellowships are intended for international applicants, meaning candidates who reside outside of Germany. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fellows are free to pursue research related to their own individual interests, yet we prefer applicants whose interests relate to one or more of the research departments of the ZZF. Successful candidates will be assigned to one of the institute\u2019s departments, offered participation in departmental activities, and asked to present their project as part of the institute\u2019s research seminar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Leibniz Summer Fellowship provides a monthly grant of 3,000 \u20ac. This funding is expected to cover all living and travelling expenses, including appropriate insurance. Fellows are asked to reside in Berlin or Potsdam for two consecutive months between April and October 2027. The ZZF will provide office space, computer access, and other relevant facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The application deadline is November 30, 2026<\/strong>. Decisions will be announced no later than December 31, 2026. Applications are accepted in English or German and must include <\/p>\n\n\n\n
