Following this successful event, the Lund Centre for the History of Knowledge (LUCK) is proud to host the second international History of Knowledge Conference on 8\u201310 October, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, the history of knowledge has been established as a vibrant field within historical scholarship. The History of Knowledge Conference aims to gather scholars from different backgrounds to continue to develop the field of history of knowledge and inspire international collaboration. We welcome papers and panels on any period, region and topic, as long as they are clearly related and relevant to the history of knowledge. However, we particularly encourage the submission of papers and panels that tie in with one or several of the six research focus areas at LUCK:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/newhistoryofknowledge.com\/focus-areas\/history-of-the-humanities\/\">history of the humanities<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/newhistoryofknowledge.com\/focus-areas\/everyday-knowledge\/\">everyday knowledge<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/newhistoryofknowledge.com\/focus-areas\/early-modern-knowledge-societies\/\">early modern knowledge societies<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/newhistoryofknowledge.com\/focus-areas\/postwar-knowledge-societies\/\">postwar knowledge societies\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/newhistoryofknowledge.com\/focus-areas\/knowledge-and-education\/\">knowledge and education<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/newhistoryofknowledge.com\/focus-areas\/digitization-historical-scholarship-and-circulation-of-knowledge\/\">digitisation, historical scholarship and circulation of knowledge<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>and\/or the submission of papers and panels that<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>contribute to further developing (empirically, methodologically, theoretically or otherwise) the analytical concepts that have been crucial in shaping the history of knowledge as a field (these include, for example, the circulation of knowledge, knowledge actors, knowledge institutions, forms of knowledge, infrastructures of knowledge, formats of knowledge, knowledge societies, orders of knowledge and hierarchies of knowledge).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Keynote Speakers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robert Darnton (Harvard University): Title TBA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Susanne Schmidt (Berlin): Title TBA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A plenary panel on publication practices and opportunities in the history of knowledge is also planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Paper Submissions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each paper will be given 20 minutes, including discussion. Each panel last 90 minutes and should consist of 3\u20135 papers, possibly including a general commentary. Please remember to leave sufficient time for general discussion.&nbsp;Panel proposals should contain the name of the chair, the names of the speakers (and, if applicable, the commentator), email addresses of all of the participants and the title of the panel. The fee includes access to all sessions, access to the welcoming reception, lunches and tea\/coffee during the breaks. There will be an extra fee for those who want to attend the conference dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Organization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference is organized by the Lund Centre for the History of Knowledge (LUCK), based at the Department of History, Lund University, in southern Sweden. The centre was inaugurated in 2020 and it comprises the history of knowledge seminar, research projects with different orientations, the history of knowledge visiting fellowship programme, the history of knowledge summer school, various networks and a digital platform.
