The NO-OBLIVION project, titled \u201cPromoting Universal Jurisdiction while Evoking the Crimes Committed in Former Yugoslavia,\u201d seeks to examine past conflicts through the lens of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) jurisprudence. Our dual mission is to enhance awareness of European history and its lessons, and to foster the study of International Criminal Law (ICL) and universal jurisdiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are calling for submissions from graduates and undergraduates in fields such as Law, International Relations, European Studies, Criminology, History, Sociology, and related disciplines. We invite papers that explore:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Relevant ICTY jurisprudence<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Historical, legal, and politically contentious topics related to ICL and the Yugoslavia trials<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Jurisdiction and competence issues<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Aspects of universal jurisdiction, including burden of proof, forum shopping, ne bis in idem, and cultural and linguistic challenges<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deadline for submission of academic papers was extended to September 30, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selected papers will be featured in the Memory Lane Journal, an online publication developed by the NO-OBLIVION Consortium. Additionally, outstanding submissions may be published in JUSTICE TRENDS Magazine. Authors will also have the opportunity to present their work at the Memory Lane Online Conference and the Reviving Balkan Arts Festival, set to be held in Croatia in the spring of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
