Although Eastern Ukraine amounts to a small patch of the world’s landmass, the war on this territory has had consequences reaching into every corner of the world. Most commentators agree that this conflict will last many more months if not years. In this debate, our eminent guests will discuss whether there is a military or political end in sight to the conflict; whether it is yet possible to define the contours of an end to the war; whether an escalation remains a possibility; and in what respect this war is reordering geo-politics now and in the future.

Michael Clarke, Fellow at King’s College London.

Mischa Gabowitsch, historian and sociologist, Visiting Fellow at IWM, and Researcher at RECET, University of Vienna.

Ursula Plassnik, former Austrian Foreign Minister.

Nathalie Tocci, Director of the Institute of International Affairs – Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) in Rome and Europe’s Futures Fellow at IWM.

Olga Tokariuk, Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Analysis.

Moderated by Misha Glenny, IWM Rector.

Tickets are available at the Burgtheater box office.

This long-standing event is a collaborative production of the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), Burgtheater, ERSTE Foundation, and Austrian daily Der Standard.

https://www.iwm.at/event/the-russo-ukrainian-war-one-year-on

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[3

post-34679","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-novosti
https://i0.wp.com/historiografija.hr/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/institute-human-sciences-vienna-iwm.jpg?fit=370%2C211&ssl=1
The Violent 1950s: Towards a New History of the Global “Postwar” Decade, Washington, DC, 25th–26th February 2027 (Deadline: 12th June 2026)
This international conference aims to reassess the so-called postwar years.
