A major part of the bibliography and the historiographical production perceived the Albanians through the Hederian narratives of the 20th century. Though, a different approach towards the Albanians can be achieved in a transnational context as well.

The Balkan History Association is preparing a volume which investigates how these communities in the Balkans were understood and perceived. Authors are invited to submit book chapters dealing with the following topics: Balkan historiographies and national narratives on the Albanians; Albanians in the Ottoman Empire: national and transnational narratives, Albanians and the Age of Revolutions in the Balkans; Albanian minorities as a marker of diplomacy in the 20th century; Ethnic Albanians in the Balkan states and aspects of their history; Social and economic topics in the history of these ethnic Albanians.

Submission procedure

The volume will be published by Peter Lang (in the series “South-East European History”).
