Intellectual History in East Central Europa Summer Workshop<\/p>\n\n\n\n
18. – 21. July 2022 The workshop asks how intellectual history can speak to key social issues today, meaning it has to address the public, and how it can articulate its claims beyond academia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How does intellectual history contribute to emerging discussions about social welfare in Europe, and women\u2019s role in it? How does it add to an understanding of the state socialist and postsocialist past of the region to reframe the discussion about memory politics and transitional justice? Why does intellectual history matter in moments of crisis? And how does a comparative regional perspective from Eastern Europe speak to rising global concerns about ideological literacy, social justice, and the future of democracy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n The workshop will address these questions on the basis of participants\u2019 individual research projects, teaching and outreach activities, and networking and fundraising efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The workshop is co-funded by the Imre Kert\u00e9sz Kolleg<\/a>, COST Action “Who Cares in Europe?”<\/a> and the CEU Democracy Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n organizing committee
