The Institute of Contemporary History at S\u00f6dert\u00f6rn University would like to invite you to the summer school History and Memory of the Holocaust. Comparative perspectives on the Nazi genocides of Jews and Roma. Stockholm, Sweden; May 23-25, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aims
The Nazi genocide of Jews and Roma is recognized by the international community as one of the greatest crimes against humanity in modern history. The European Parliament declared 27 January as the Holocaust Remembrance Day and 2 August as the European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day. However, there was not an immediate understanding of this tragic events following the end of World War II. Until today is the studies on the Shoah and the Romani genocide to high extent developing separately. The key idea of the summer school is to build up an international network that bring together senior and junior scholars of the Jewish and Romani genocides for discussions on history and memory of these mass crimes in a comparative international perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fellows
The summer school is open for doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows, especially from history, cultural studies, ethnology, and history of ideas. The summer school has focus on the history and memory of the Jewish and Roma genocides in the Baltic Sea Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To apply
Your application should include a maximum 300-word abstract (about why you are interested to participate in the summer school) and a short CV (max 2 pages). Your application must be submitted by email to martin.englund@sh.se (subject: Sodertorn University Summer School 2022) by 31st March 2022. Accepted fellows will be informed by email about the acceptance of their participation on 2 April 2022. The maximum number of fellows is 12. Organizers will attempt to achieve both a gender and a regional (i.e. Western and Eastern Europe) balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Practical details
The working language is English. Our budget is covering lodging (two nights in a single room) and meals for all the participants. There is no conference fee. S\u00f6dert\u00f6rn University is in the centre of Flemingsberg, south of Stockholm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
