Predstavljeni autori Hans Gassebner (1902.-1966.), Franz Schaffgotsch (1902.-1942.), Carl Johann Rabus (1898.\u2013 1983.), Willy Hempel (1905.-1985.), Walter Hoefner (1903.-1968.) i Franti\u0161ek Besperato (1900.-1963.) su od ranih tridesetih do sredine \u010detrdesetih godina dvadesetog stolje\u0107a boravili na dubrova\u010dkom podru\u010dju i \u0161ire. Rije\u010d je mahom o akademskim slikarima raznih nacionalnosti &#8211; Nijemcima, Austrijancima, \u010cesima i Poljacima, \u010diji su razlozi za boravak na spomenutim prostorima razli\u010diti, ali se naj\u010de\u0161\u0107e mo\u017ee govoriti o emigraciji pred nacisti\u010dkom opasno\u0161\u0107u. Izlagao je 1938. godine na \u201eIzlo\u017ebi njema\u010dke umjetnosti dvadesetog stolje\u0107a\u201c, \u010diji je prihod&nbsp; bio namijenjen slikarima emigrantima, te je u to vrijeme najvjerojatnije posjetio Veliku Britaniju. Ponovno se vra\u0107a na Kor\u010dulu gdje je pre\u017eivljavao od slikanja i fizi\u010dkog rada i gdje je ostao barem do 1944. godine, sude\u0107i po dataciji crte\u017ea. Izgleda da je davao i neformalne poduke, jer je poznat podatak da je od 1938.-1939. godine podu\u010davao \u010de\u0161kog slikara Josefa Istlera. (1919. \u2013 2000.). Ve\u0107ina Hoefnerovih radova koji se \u010duvaju u Umjetni\u010dkoj galeriji Dubrovnik crte\u017ei su tu\u0161em, pasteli i akvareli ra\u0111eni na nekvalitetnom papiru koji signalizira lo\u0161e materijalne uvjete u kojima je radio. U pejza\u017eima i vedutama ra\u0111enim akvarelom ili pastelom pokazuje izuzetnu crta\u010dku fino\u0107u i prijem\u010dljivost za svjetlosne efekte, dok skice pojedinih mu\u0161karaca u kavanama ili grupne kompozicije (primjerice <i>Za stolom<\/i> iz 1937. godine) pokazuju njegov ekspresionisti\u010dki habitus u iskrzanom, valovitom crte\u017eu i uznemiruju\u0107em naboju prizora.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font  size=\"3\">  <br \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; line-height: normal; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font  size=\"3\">  <br \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; line-height: normal; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\">Grof <b>Franz Schaffgotsch (1902.-1942.)<\/b> je austrijski slikar i grafi\u010dar, te ilustrator knjiga, koji je zajedno sa suprugom emigrirao 1938. godine prvo na Rab, a potom u Zagreb i \u010diji je \u017eivot na dubrova\u010dkom podru\u010dju najbolje dokumentiran zahvaljuju\u0107i dragocjenim memoarima njegove \u017eene Hedwige Schaffgotsch (<i>Putovima sudbine<\/i>,Zagreb: Hrvatsko-austrijsko dru\u0161tvo, 2009.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font  size=\"3\">  <br \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; line-height: normal; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\">U Dubrovnik sti\u017eu 5.6. 1939. godine, gdje se ubrzo nastanjuju na otoku \u0160ipanu i tamo ostaju sve do 1942. godine i hap\u0161enja od strane tada\u0161nje vlasti. Franz Schaffgotsch umire u &nbsp;Dubrovniku 21.12. 1942. godine &nbsp;te je pokopan u grobnici obitelji Wregg na lapadskom groblju Sv. Mihajla.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font  size=\"3\">  <br \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; line-height: normal; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;\"><span style=\"font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;,&quot;serif&quot;; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\">Na izlo\u017ebi je predstavljen serijom tempera i tu\u0161eva s egzoti\u010dnog putovanja na relaciji <br \/> Pirej-Atena-Aleksandrija-Haifa-Dubrovnik, koje je radio za brodsku kompaniju u zamjenu za tro\u0161kove putovanja te koje je dovr\u0161avao u Dubrovniku. Dopadljivi radovi s izra\u017eenom ilustrativnom komponentom ne pokazuju ni u naznakama ekspresionisti\u010dki senzibilitet karakteristi\u010dan za njegove rane radove. Svojom pro\u010di\u0161\u0107enom jednostavno\u0161\u0107u u kadriranju i lucidnim odabirom boja te gotovo stripovskim senzibilitetom (osobito u crte\u017eima tu\u0161em) odmi\u010du se od bilo kakve naznake ki\u010da u koji bi se odabirom teme \/ zadatka moglo zapasti. Muzej u Ulmu mu izdaje monografiju te je zapravo njegovo stvarala\u0161tvo najbolje dokumentirano od autora prisutnih na izlo\u017ebi. Na izlo\u017ebi je predstavljen pejza\u017eima i prikazima \u017eivotinja i upravo se u srazu tih, naizgled pastoralnih motiva i ekspresionisti\u010dkog slikarskog oblikovanja silovitim potezima kistom i gustim nanosima boja u reduciranoj skali stvara dojam neke neobi\u010dne napetosti. Pejza\u017ei nemaju niti natruhe arkadijske komponente, ve\u0107 je cijeli konstruirani slikarski prostor uzbiban, uznemiren.
