Ove godine se navr\u0161ava 130 godina od ro\u0111enja jugoslovenskog komuniste i \u0161panskog borca Vladimira \u0106opi\u0107a. Ro\u0111en u Senju u me\u0161anoj hrvatsko-srpskoj porodici, \u0106opi\u0107 je postao komunista tokom Ruske revolucije, \u010diji je bio neposredni u\u010desnik. Po povratku u novoosnovanu Kraljevinu SHS, bio je prvi organizacioni sekretar Komunisti\u010dke partije Jugoslavije (KPJ) i jedan od njenih najistaknutijih \u010dlanova. Od 1932. do 1936. godine bio je \u010dlan najvi\u0161eg partijskog rukovodstva, a potom je oti\u0161ao u \u0160paniju, gde je bio komandant XV Internacionalne brigade. U jesen 1938. godine vratio se u Moskvu, gde je zajedno sa Titom trebao preuzeti vo\u0111stvo nad partijom. Me\u0111utim, uhapsio ga je NKVD i streljan je na osnovu la\u017enih optu\u017ebi 19. aprila 1939. godine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vladimir \u0106opi\u0107 je bio jedna od najva\u017enijih li\u010dnosti u prvih dvadeset godina postojanja jugoslovenskog komunisti\u010dkog pokreta. Zbog njegovog zna\u010daja za Hrvatsko primorje, odlu\u010dili smo da godi\u0161njica njegovog ro\u0111enja komemoriramo upravo na Sveu\u010dili\u0161tu u Rijeci. Ova konferencija bi\u0107e prilika da se iznova osvrnemo ne samo na njegov lik i delo, nego i na celokupnu predratnu istoriju KPJ, koja je \u010desto nepravedno zapostavljana zarad NOB-a i socijalisti\u010dke Jugoslavije. S obzirom da u poslednjih nekoliko godina vidimo porast interesa za KPJ pre 1941. godine, ova konferencija bi\u0107e prilika da se istori\u010darke i istori\u010dari koji se bave tom tematikom okupe i razmene svoje znanje. Pozivamo vas da po\u0161aljete priloge o istoriji predratne KPJ, sa posebnim naglaskom na sindikalno pitanje, nacionalno pitanje i \u017eenski pokret, polo\u017eaj partije u i veze sa me\u0111unarodnim radni\u010dkim pokretom, kao i na radove koji povezuju me\u0111uratni period sa procesima dugog trajanja. Organizatori mogu, na zahtev u\u010desnika, organizovati sme\u0161taj i pokriti tro\u0161kove boravka u Rijeci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yugoslav Communism in the Interwar Period: A Conference Marking the 130th Anniversary of the Birth of Vladimir \u0106opi\u0107<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n April 30 \u2013 May 1, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This year marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of the Yugoslav communist and Spanish Civil War volunteer, Vladimir \u0106opi\u0107. Born in Senj to a mixed Serbo-Croat family, \u0106opi\u0107 became a communist during the Russian Revolution, of which he was a direct participant. Upon his return to the newly-founded Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, he was the first organizational secretary of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ), and one of its most prominent members. From 1932 until 1936, he was a member of the party leadership, and then he went to Spain, where he commanded the 15th International Brigade. In the fall of 1938 he returned to Moscow, where he was supposed to take over the party leadership together with Tito. However, he was arrested by the NKVD and shot on false charges on April 19, 1939.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vladimir \u0106opi\u0107 was one of the most significant personalities in the first two decades of the Yugoslav communist movement. Because of his importance for the Croatian Littoral, we have decided to commemorate his anniversary precisely at the University of Rijeka. This conference will be an opportunity not only for a reassessment of his life and work, but also of the entire pre-war history of the KPJ, which has often been unjustly neglected due to a focus on the history of World War II and socialist Yugoslavia. Considering that the previous couple of years have seen a rise in interest for the KPJ before 1941, this conference will be an opportunity for historians of this topic to gather and exchange their knowledge. We invite you to send abstracts on the topic, with a special emphasis on trade unionism, the national question, the women\u2019s movement, the party\u2019s position in the international labor movement, as well as works which connect the interwar period with longue dur\u00e9e<\/em> processes. Please send an abstract of a maximum of 500 words with a short CV to guzvica_stefan@alumni.ceu.edu<\/a> i vjeran.pavlakovic@uniri.hr<\/a> until February 20, 2021.
