Predstavljao je novi senzibilitet, odbacuju\u0107i apstraktni ekspresionizam i socijalisti\u010dki realizam poku\u0161avao je formulirati umjetnost prilago\u0111enu vremenu napredne masovne proizvodnje. U knjizi Armin Medosch razmatra razvoj Novih tendencija kao glavnog me\u0111unarodnog umjetni\u010dkog pokreta u kontekstu dru\u0161tvene, politi\u010dke i tehnolo\u0161ke povijesti. Na taj na\u010din, istovremeno prati pomake paradigme: promjenu iz fordizma (politi\u010dka ekonomija masovne proizvodnje i potro\u0161nje) u informacijsko dru\u0161tvo, te promjenu iz poslijeratnog modernizma u nematerijaliziranu postmodernu umjetni\u010dku praksu.<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><font  size=\"3\">  <br \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;\"><font face=\"Calibri\" size=\"3\">Medosch obja\u0161njava kako su Nove tendencije zami\u0161ljale da \u0107e brzi napredak tehnologije biti odsko\u010dna daska u budu\u0107nost bez otu\u0111enja i ugnjetavanja, te sudionici nisu bili protiv novih tehnologija kao ve\u0107ina umjetnika i intelektualaca tog vremena. Radovi Novih tendencija uklju\u010duju gledatelja kao koproducenta, ukidaju\u0107i ideju umjetnika kao kreativnog genija, zamjenjuju\u0107i ga pritom s pojmom vizualnog istra\u017eiva\u010da.
