A leading expert on 20th century French History, Chabal\u2019s previous works include,&nbsp;<em>A Divided Republic: Nation, State and Citizenship in Contemporary France<\/em>, (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2015) and the edited volume&nbsp;<em>France since the 1970s: History, Politics and Memory in an Age of Uncertainty<\/em>&nbsp;(London: Bloomsbury Academic, 2014).
