In preparation of the 75th anniversary of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz the Research Alliance for the university history gathered scholars from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This volume presents the proceedings of this meeting. The volume focuses on the recent history of the university as a field of research as well as methods to explore the history of the university after 1945. A contribution on the history of the university in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) highlights the current state of research. Two examples convey how universities cope with their recent history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Vorbereitung auf die 75-Jahrfeier der Johannes Gutenberg-Universit\u00e4t Mainz hat der Forschungsverbund Universit\u00e4tsgeschichte Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus Deutschland, \u00d6sterreich und der Schweiz versammelt. Dieser Band pr\u00e4sentiert die Ergebnisse dieser Zusammenkunft. Im Zentrum stehen die Fragen nach dem Forschungsgegenstand der neueren Universit\u00e4tsgeschichte sowie nach Methoden und Zug\u00e4ngen zur Erforschung der Universit\u00e4tsgeschichte nach 1945. Erg\u00e4nzt um einen Beitrag zur Universit\u00e4tsgeschichte der DDR wird dabei der aktuelle Forschungsstand beleuchtet. Zwei Einzelbeispiele vermitteln schlie\u00dflich den Umgang von Universit\u00e4ten mit ihrer j\u00fcngeren Geschichte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
