Larry Wolff, Julius Silver Professor of History at New York University will hold the Inaugural lecture of the Department of History and Civilization<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lecture will consider the evolution of Woodrow Wilson’s ideas about Eastern Europe during World War I as a problem of mental mapping, and will discuss how Wilson’s ideas about the region contributed to the geopolitical restructuring of Eastern Europe on the twentieth-century map.\u00a0 It will also consider the issue of Wilson’s interests in relation to the emergence of Eastern Europe as a field of study in America, and will, finally, address some of the current controversy surrounding Wilson’s perspectives and legacies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
