Zentraleuropa ist als Raum zwar nur \u201eschwer greifbar\u201c (Milan Kundera), hat im Vielv\u00f6lkerstaat der Habsburgermonarchie aber \u201ereal-territoriale Z\u00fcge\u201c angenommen, die der Region \u201eeine w\u00f6rtlich zu verstehende r\u00e4umliche Bedeutung\u201c verleihen (Jurij Lotman). \u00d6konomische, soziale, religi\u00f6se und sprachliche-kulturelle Pluralit\u00e4ten bestimmen hier die allt\u00e4gliche Kommunikation von Individuen und gesellschaftlichen Gruppen. Sie beeinflussen die kulturelle Kreativit\u00e4t, sind aber auch f\u00fcr permanente Krisen, Konflikte und Instabilit\u00e4ten verantwortlich. Diese Aspekte analysiert der Kulturwissenschaftler Moritz Cs\u00e1ky im vorliegenden Buch anhand essayistischer und literarischer Texte u.a. von H. Bahr, F. Kafka, J. Roth, H. von Hofmannsthal und M. Krle\u017ea, die solche Perspektiven bereits vorweggenommen haben. Dabei erweist sich Zentraleuropa als ein Laboratorium, das zur Deutung von analogen, global-kulturellen Prozessen und Problemen der Gegenwart beizutragen vermag.<\/p>\n

Moritz Cs\u00e1ky<\/strong> war Ordinarius f\u00fcr \u00d6sterreichische Geschichte an der Universit\u00e4t Graz und ist Mitglied der \u00d6sterreichischen sowie der Ungarischen Akademie der Wissenschaften.<\/p>\n
