The event is one of Europe\u2019s largest humanities conferences. Divided Societies is the theme of the convention. Staff and Students of the Department of History are looking forward to welcoming German and international scholars, students and the interested public.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Willkommen zum 52. Historikertag in M\u00fcnster!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Vom 25. bis 28. September 2018 findet in M\u00fcnster unter dem Motto \u201eGespaltene Gesellschaften\u201c der 52. Deutsche Historikertag statt. Dazu begr\u00fc\u00dfen Sie das Ortskomitee des Historikertages, die Lehreinheit Geschichte und die Westf\u00e4lische Wilhelms-Universit\u00e4t M\u00fcnster herzlich!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Motivation f\u00fcr das Motto \u201eGespaltene Gesellschaften\u201c sind aktuelle \u00dcberlegungen:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Zahllose politische und soziale Zerrei\u00dfproben stellen uns heute vor erhebliche neue Herausforderungen. Soziale Ungleichheit, religi\u00f6s grundierte Auseinandersetzungen oder auch neue Formen des Nationalismus, der auf eine zunehmende Globalisierung reagiert, spalten viele Gesellschaften. In einer globalisierten Welt wirken sich derartige Spannungen sp\u00fcrbar international aus, wodurch sich auch die L\u00f6sungsm\u00f6glichkeiten und Mitspracherechte ver\u00e4ndern. F\u00fcr viele Zeitgenossen scheint der hergebrachte Konsens innerhalb der eigenen Gesellschaft zu br\u00f6ckeln. Wesentliche Grundlagen der modernen Gesellschaft und des Zusammenlebens geraten damit auf den Pr\u00fcfstand. Vor allem die Spaltung zwischen arm und reich oder zwischen \u201efremd\u201c und \u201eeinheimisch\u201c l\u00e4sst das Gef\u00fchl von Teilhabe und Gerechtigkeit schwinden, so dass Gruppen erstarken und zu \u00fcberzeugen verm\u00f6gen, die einfache L\u00f6sungen propagieren.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Diese Herausforderungen sind jedoch keine Besonderheit unserer Zeit. Soziale, kulturelle, \u00f6konomische, aber auch religi\u00f6s, ethnisch oder rechtliche begr\u00fcndete Spaltungen sind ein Ph\u00e4nomen aller Zeitepochen und Weltreligionen. In allen Jahrhunderten hat man um den Konsens innerhalb der Gesellschaft ebenso wie mit den Nachbarn immer wieder existentiell gerungen. Das zeigen die tiefgreifenden Konflikte, die sich in der antiken griechischen Staatenwelt als eine sozio-politische Grundkonstante im permanenten B\u00fcrgerkrieg (staseis) \u00e4u\u00dferten, ebenso wie die erbitterten Auseinandersetzungen um die Stellung und Rechte der Geistlichen gegen\u00fcber den Laien im hochmittelalterlichen Investiturstreit. Die konfessionellen Spaltungen der Fr\u00fchen Neuzeit zogen lange Verwerfungen bis in die einzelnen Kommunen nach sich, w\u00e4hrend die Diktaturen und Kriege des 20. Jahrhunderts oft eine Einheit erzwangen, die Differenzen nur blutig \u00fcberdeckte.
