John Connelly (Berkeley): “From Peoples into Nations: A History of Eastern Europe”

Book presentation and discussion with the author via Zoom

Thursday, 10 June 2021 18:00

John Connelly, historian at the University of California, Berkeley, is going to present his comprehensive and new interpretation of the history of Eastern Europe since the late 18th century. Based on the diversity in language and confession in the region Connelly looks at the ambiguities of the nation building process as well as the consequences of nations and states disappearing again. This enables a new perspective not only on the history but also the present of a region in which many basic questions on coexistence are still open.

The event will be held in cooperation with the Leibniz-Institut für Ost- und Südosteuropastudien.

Date: 10th of June 2021

Time: 6pm
